- jamie and chris’s wedding celebration

Posted by kim on 25th November 2008

November 15th, Kim and Steve Cooley of Carpe Vita Photography photographed Jamie and Chris’s wedding at one of our favorite locales, The Gaylord Texan.

Marty Younkin with Love Notes officiated the ceremony and added his own wonderful flair.

Shanna Marko of The Organized Event made sure everything ran super smooth throughout the day while Jeff and Tristan of The Gaylord took care of the guests with an exquisite dinner and over the top service.  Below Shanna helps with the bubbles.

Tommy Evans of Specialty Sound kept the crowd on the dance floor and added some great touches with their lighting.  Check out Tommy’s blog by clicking here to see more photos of the night from the DJ’s perspective.  We love that Tommy lists the music he played and some fun stuff you might not of have known in his technical notes.

The florals were from Out of the Garden – we loved the hanging candles and how they complimented the spectacular holiday lights from overhead.

Friends and family interested in seeing photographs from the weddings, please click here to be registered with Pictage.  As soon and Jamie and Chris see the photos and release them, you will receive an email telling you they are available to be seen.

Here’s the video slideshow – the words are from Jamie and Chris’s first dance. Enjoy!

Here are some photos from Amanda’s Carpe Vita Crew session.  We pretty much stayed in the Grapevine area for Amanda’s session but we were still able to find a places we hadn’t yet photographed at before. As you can seen, Amanda is a beautiful young lady.

- hotel zaza ou-tx party

Posted by kim on 10th November 2008

You know fall is truly here when the University of Oklahoma vs. University of Texas rivalry comes to the Cotton Bowl.  Each year the guys at Hotel ZaZa kickoff this weekend a little private shindig and Carpe Vita Photography is lucky enough to be there.  We can’t wait to see what the creative staff has in store for their guests and of course, we’ll share the view.  We’ll try to post a slideshow as soon as possible.

To be notified of when all of the photos go online for viewing and sharing, just click here to register.  You’ll just need to give your email address and if you haven’t used this service before, create a personal password.  Then an email will be sent to you so you can see all of the photos.

Go Hotel ZaZa!

Update after the fact – here’s a slideshow of the Hotel ZaZa party. Texas sent Oklahoma home for the weekend but the festivities started out awesome at Hotel ZaZa.

The theme ZaZa’s Noel Rodriguez came up with was based on the Dallas Museum of Art’s King Tut exhibit bring a little bit of Egypt to Dallas.  Only Hotel ZaZa would invite a herd of camels along their red carpet to welcome their guests to the start of another great adventure.  As we understand, a major part of the decor came from Liland’s and the awesome talent was from Eclipse Entertainment.  Did you see that Pharaoh? Nice legs!

Enjoy the slideshow!

- get out and vote!

Posted by kim on 4th November 2008

Is this not an amazing time that we live in!  Steve and I were talking just last night how much communications have changed in the last ten years.  How 10 years ago, I did not yet have a cell phone to carry with me.  And now, I have the cell phone, I blog, I am trying to figure out texting (don’t want our senior clients looking down on me because I’m not up to speed), I facebook (is that a verb yet?) and we are on myspace (but it isn’t as up to date as it should be).

But that’s on the communication side.  Is it not amazing the candidates that we have running for Chief Commander of these United States today?  I know not everyone is pleased with the choice of today’s candidates but for a child of the 60’s (Steve is of the 50’s), it is pretty incredible that we have an African-American man on the ticket for President and a woman up for possible Vice President.  I know that some people who were adults when I was a child could never imagine this day taking place.  I’m so glad that I am alive to see this.

Everyone at Carpe Vita Photography voted early so we will miss out on the electricity that will be felt at the voting sites.  If you haven’t voted yet, please get out there and be heard.  I recently saw the Hilary Swank movie on what all it took for women in this country to finally be able to vote so it stirred a little more of a fire in me.  We may think times are bad today but we still are so blessed to live and grow here.  And through voting, we can influence how the U.S. gets back on track.
