Carpe Vita Photography documented the President’s Reception at Brook Hollow Golf Club earlier this month. We love this annual event – the staff is so gracious and it is always good to see the members again.

And of course, getting to photograph the incredible food, florals and decor is the ultimate treat.

Junior Valesquez of The Garden Gate Florals and his incredible creative vision coupled with the awe inspiring ice carvings by the Brook Hollow catering gurus was a sight to behold. Per Charles Redin with Brook Hollow, they ordered tons of ice to create these elaborate works of ice art.

BBJ Linen provided the lovely linens and elegant chair tie-backs.

Absolute Lighting added their touch of drama – they had those clouds moving across the wall which gave a very surreal feel.

The gentlemen of Carlos Guedes trio provided the perfect musical accompaniment for the evening’s festivities.

Yes, those cups are made of chocolate – yum!

Fishes were used with the florals – they were lots of fun to photograph! I got some great fish portraits.

- spring christening celebration

Posted by kim on 16th April 2008

Baby Kate was honored at a baptism celebration earlier this month. One of our favorite vendors, RSVP Soiree helped Kate’s mom bring everything together so she could enjoy herself and her guests.

The yummy cake was by our pals at Society Bakery.

The RSVP china and silver service are a nice touch.

It was the perfect day to be outside.

Here’s a wonderful detail – that first monogram and date is for mom Cameron when she was christened in this very gown. This christening gown has been passed through the family between babies, Kate’s sisters and cousins. Don’t you love Kate’s little toes peeking out!

Miss Kate with her grandparents and her godparents – don’t you just love her hair!

- amy and sam in march

Posted by kim on 13th April 2008

Amy and Sam were married March 22, 2008 in a wonderfully touching and intimate celebration of their love at La Cima Club in Las Colinas.
b-sam.jpg b-amy.jpg

With Sam and Amy living in different parts of the U.S. before the wedding, having the ceremony and celebration in Dallas not too far from Amy’s parents was a perfect meet in the middle location.

Having the ceremony overlooking the breathtaking view on this lovely Spring day was a nice touch especially for the guests not from our area. Junior at The Garden Gate was responsible for the florals.

Kay Watson was the coordinator of the event with her assistant Kim. I love this photo just because it demonstrates what all Kay would do for one of our brides. If you are planning a wedding, please include Kay in your visiting of wedding professionals.

Tommy Evans with Specialty Sound provide the tunes that kept the guests on their feet dancing the night away as well as the dramatic light (which we love).

- happy birthday to steve

Posted by kim on 12th April 2008

Today is Steve’s 55th birthday. We hadn’t had a chance to plan anything so we were thinking of just going to dinner and celebrating quietly. But then last night, we received an emergency call from another photographer friend who needed help. Due to the critical illness of a family member, this photog can’t make a wedding today so I’ll be photographing a wedding for her. What are friends for, right? Steve understood and we hope that all families involved from the photographer’s to the couple’s family that I will now be photographing recognize how special every moment is.

Happy Birthday Steve! I swear you just get better with age.
Love,
Kim

- ashley’s senior session

Posted by kim on 8th April 2008

We had a blast with Ashley doing her senior pics. We were up in Plano staying at the new NYLO hotel – see next post for more photos of this fun concept hotel – and made the most of the morning before one of our weddings to photography Ashley around the hotel. The first few are in our room.

Then we ventured down into the restaurant bar to grab a few originals. Ashley was a great sport and it looks like she fits in perfectly at the venue.

Here’s the slideshow that shows off some of Ashley’s favorite photos from the session.
