14th Annual June Social Gala

Posted by kim on 28th June 2007

Sunday night (after seeing Spamalot at the Dallas Summer Musicals - get tickets before they leave July 8th) Steve and I attend the June Wedding, Inc.’s Summer Social held this year at the always elegant Hotel Adolphus.

The attire for the evening was Formal Desert Chic with comfortable Moroccan pillow seating…

Ever the entertainers, Andy Austin, Ryan Kelly and Marcus Rawlins stirred things up in between courses. The lounging area on the dance floor was a hit!

There was a silent auction to raise funding and awareness for the JWI selected charity.

On the way out of the party, we took advantage of the onsite photo booth provided by Classic Photo Booth – check out their photos from the evening.

changes everywhere in carpe vita photography

Posted by kim on 27th June 2007

We have a new website – www.CarpeVitaWeddings.com which Steve has devoted a great deal of time and effort too. Now that website is live, we working on updating the general website www.CarpeVitaPhotography.com . Due to technology changes, this site (what you currently see when you go to that link) is locked in 2005. Fortunately that wasn’t that long ago but as much as we loved it two years ago, we are really ready for it to change.

While we are at it (making changes), it seems to make a great deal of sense to have all the blogs working out of the same hosting company with the same look. Which is where this new blog comes in. You can still access the old blog, by clicking HERE and we’ll place a link in the blogroll so nobody really has to search for this entry.

As this is a new blog that relates to everything carpe vita photography not about weddings or high school seniors, I’m probably going to include more personal stuff. One of my new “half way thru the year” resolutions, is to start a photo of the day project. Based on other photographers I have seen doing this, I’m supposed to try to create a highly creative photograph each day. As I know myself and know some days the creativity I can muster will be devoted to clients, I’m going to allow myself to include work photos too. My goal is to start this project Junly 1st, which is Sunday. So far I have kept my Jazzercise commitment of 4 times a week since starting (when I can’t make 4 times in one week, I have to be there 5 times the next week) but I have yet to send the 2006 holiday cards to everyone sooooooooooooo we’ll see.

Have a great Wednesday! Oh look, the sun came out.

Check back soon for a peek at the couples wedding album. We are waiting for a revised draft so it will be as close to perfect for it’s unveiling.
By the way, LaToya and Tony, who married May 27, 2006 (which happened to be Toya’s mother’s birthday too), are expecting their first little one later this year. We can’t wait for that pregnancy photo session. We are so excited for these two and know they will make terrific parents!

LeAnn’s Album

Posted by kim on 21st June 2007

Tuesday morning we finished up LeAnn’s sessions to show her off in her Carroll cap & gown and a few with her letter jacket.

What a trooper she was to get up early on one of her few days a week to get to sleep in and then of course, it had to be a little steamy Tuesday.

Here’s one of the spreads from Tuesday’s session – doesn’t she look terrific.
cvp-outdoor-spread.jpg
Give us your opinion on which you like best -

Design with volleyball spread

Design without volleyball spread – by not having the volleyball spread, we were able to show off more photos from an earlier session
in this 20 page 10×13 custom senior album

Please note that this slideshow does have music so if you are viewing at work, you might want to adjust your volume.

Here’s a revised spread (not seen in the slideshows above) that was created after visiting with LeAnn’s mom on the phone Friday.
Let us know if you like it better that what is in the slideshow.
